Thomas County Government offers the Citizens’ Academy annually. This 10-week program is designed to give citizens an overview of County management, operations and procedures. Each weekly session will inform and educate citizens on how each department and office carries out its distinctive mission.
Classes will be taught by government officials and staff chosen for their specific area of expertise in County government. Classes also provide the County with the opportunity to learn from you, the citizen. This course is offered at no cost to the participants. A meal is provided at each session. Open enrollment is throughout the year with class size limited to 40 participants. Additional applicants are placed on a waiting list.
Student Requirements:
- Thomas County Resident
- Open Minded
- Willingness to learn
- Able to commit to 3 hours each Thursday night (6 pm – 9pm) for 10 weeks
